The Millennium Project is a dynamic 3+D virtual environment for exploring geographically, temporally and categorically organized historical information. A small collection of significant people, events, and works of art, philosophy and literature from the early 20th century are represented as 3D objects in a geographic timescape. Each object is tagged with multiple topics called "metaobjects". These metaobjects are represented as linear "threads" that connect items chronologically.

This project was created as a joint masters thesis software project (with Earl Rennison) in the Visible Language Workshop at the MIT Media Lab. Lisa Strausfeld's written thesis is entitled Embodying virtual space to enhance the understanding of information.
